Opportunity

Walmart is a people-led, tech-powered company. For Walmart to be the best place to shop, we also need it to be the best place to work. As of the end of FY2025, we employed approximately 2.1 million associates globally, with approximately 1.6 million associates in the U.S.

With a U.S. associate base that is 92% hourly and 39% under the age of 30, Walmart can provide a foundational entry point for people to develop critical skills relevant to careers at Walmart and beyond. Our investments in wages, benefits, skills training, and education can benefit not only our own associates, but also the customers they serve, their families, and the communities where they live. We believe our business and philanthropic efforts to promote a skills-based approach to workforce development beyond Walmart further enhances upward mobility and economic growth in communities.

Economic Opportunity

We seek to make retail a place of opportunity where everyone, regardless of where they start, can build skills and gain experiences they need to advance in their careers. Doing so allows us to attract, develop and retain the talent we need to deliver our distinctive omnichannel customer proposition. We also believe that investing in frontline retail workers creates value beyond Walmart. Communities need good entry-level jobs at competitive wages to provide pathways for workers to acquire skills and advance all while helping to sustain local economies.

Our Human Rights Statement serves as the foundation of our approach to human rights, grounded in Walmart’s values and confirming our respect for and commitment to upholding human rights across our operations and supply chain.

We respect human rights and seek to use our scale, capabilities, and influence to help people and communities improve their lives. Walmart believes business has a responsibility to respect human rights and that our business thrives when our associates, people in supply chains, customers, and our communities thrive.

Veterans and Military Families

At Walmart, we’re grateful for the sacrifice our nation’s veterans, military personnel and their families make in service to our country. So, we feel it’s our duty to support this community while they’re in uniform and when they transition back to civilian life. Since 2022, Walmart has granted over $10m to veteran serving organizations.

This help benefited organizations that build and strengthen systems to help military members navigate the wide array of resources available to them at all stages of their journey. As part of this effort, we provide a range of benefits and resources to support our associates’ specific needs. Our military skills translator, job simulations, and internships are all tools to provide support through the unique challenges faced by the military community. Today, we continue to support veterans and their families through local community grant programs.

We leverage resources like our Round-Up feature on Walmart.com and Registry for Good. Since 2013, we have hired more than 500,000 U.S. veterans and military spouses.  Read more about support for Veterans and Military Families.
